Just Like (如一) — by Naiwen Yang (楊乃文)

What is less? What is more?
What is special? What is mediocre?
I don’t think I see it through, but am not puzzled.
I don’t think I’m stubborn, but have not yet forgetten.

I wanna be like wind, having no form but staying together.
be like a cup of water, neither thick or thin.
be like a dream that seems real but also has never existed.

Why do I have to understand? Why do I have to ask?
Why do we have to compare? Why do we have to be the same?
That is not right, but also not wrong.
That is not the cause, but also not the effect.

I wanna be like wind, sometimes stay sometimes disperse.
be like a cup of water, being thick and also thin.
be like a dream that doesn’t exist but seriously exists.

I wanna have a heart that doesn’t hate or love.
be like a star that is neither bright nor dim.
be like a person, who doesn’t fear pain, and thus I will never be afraid of not having a free life.
